Latest information regarding flu vaccination clinics
Due to restrictions connected with infection control and social distancing, this year our flu vaccination clinics will be taking a different form.
Some of these clinics will be operating on Saturdays in a 'drive-through' basis in our car park. We have devised a circular route in and out which will be manned by 4 vaccinations stands, each with 1 clinician and 1 administrator. Marshalls will direct cars to the next available clinician as they drive in. The vaccination will be given whilst the patient remains in the car, and then the marshalls will direct the car to the exit.
In order to do this in the most productive way, and to ensure as many people are vaccinated as possible, in a covid-safe way, we will be asking for patients to have their vaccination arm ready for the clinician. This means it will need to be bare at the very top of your arm as the injection needs to go into the top muscle. All car occupants will need to wear masks or face coverings.
A few other clinics will take the form of a walk-through the surgery on weekdays - however, these will be on a one-in, one-out basis, so patients will need be required to queue outside the building and be prepared for inclement weather when invited to these clinics.
Patients do not need to contact the surgery to book an appointment as we will be sending either a text or letter informing them of their appointment time in the next few weeks. If you cannot attend on the date & time given, only then will you need to contact the surgery, and we will endeavour to allocate another day, however, please understand, this may not be until November.
Please note that, for those patients aged between 50 and 64 and not in a clinical at risk group, the earliest you will be offered a flu vaccination is November, providing there is sufficient vaccine. No appointments will be offered for people in this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are aged 50 to 64 and are in a clinical 'at risk' group which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.
